My great niece was born on Monday morning. I'm pretty stoked about it. My gushing prompted a lady at work to comment on how great she thought it was that my family took such ownership of a family that was technically wasn't ours. I thanked her, but it caught me off guard at first because I had to remember they are my step family. But, you see, my family has always been a bit of a hodgepodge so taking on new people just made sense to us (and we are now up to twelve new people!). We were a little family that wanted to be big and we had our prayers answered. That hasn't meant it's been all smooth sailing or anything, but these past few days confirm that it really is a family.
When people look at new baby girl's hands and feet they say "She's got Lea's hands!....Wait, how did that happen?" And sometimes when we're out as a family, people that don't know how we became a family swear that they see the resemblance. But this is all because God is the one that makes families. We're all adopted one way or another :).
Preach, sister!
